9:30 p.m. ARGENTINE TANGO MILONGA - Elbio Fernández, known as "the little giant of tango" is originally from Canelones, Uruguay and is well-known in Toronto for his passion for tango music. He has resided in Toronto since 1989, and, in 1990, made his artistic debut at Club Uruguay inToronto. Since then, he has performed at many public and private venues, in festivals and other events in Canada and abroad. He has shared the stage with renowned singers, dancers, and tango musicians, as well as musicians from other musical traditions. He has also performed as a singer of Candombe and Murga, typical music from Uruguay. Elbio is a soloist with Candombe Mayor del Club Uruguay in Toronto. In 2006, he was recognized as the "Best Tango Singer" in the Best Artist and Latin Shows of Toronto. In 2008. he launched his first CD, titled “Tangos”.
